Running the Rubber Highway
I am alive and well today despite my mini heart-attack last night (see last post). While taking my shower this morning, I made a pact with myself. When I am ready to move from this flat, that damn treadmill is staying. No ifs, ands, or butts. It will be a permanent fixture. 2 bedroom 1 bath flat, fancy treadmill included. Personally, I think people would love it. Yes, it is situated smack dab in the middle of the second bedroom, but that's okay. I'll help them move it to the side. I'm helpful like that. I am sure moving it around the room would only cost me one or two bruises versus the mini community I achieved on my arms and thighs from schlepping it up the stairs.
I was super excited to jump on it this morning. I had on my nylon pants, gray zip up hoodie, and my horrific looking Sketcher ShapeUp tennis shoes that I only wear in the privacy of my own home. Aretha and Pitbull were anxiously waiting for me on my iPod, even the treadmill seemed to be winking me over. But, no I couldn't win. As I was pulling the cord to plug in my treadmill, I noticed the outlet did not have a three-prong fit. I rolled my eyes and cursed under my breath, scrambling around on my knees to the other outlets in the room. NOT ONE OF THEM HAD A THREE-PRONG OUTLET!! If I had a punching bag in the corner, I would have slapped it. Slapped it, you ask? Yes, I would have just slapped it. I'm generally not a violent person, well, unless I haven't ate ate all day and then someone steals my parking spot. It's only those rare days that I reincarnate into the devil's spawn.
After a few motherfathers and couple damn its, I decided to change and head down to the store to pick up an outlet adaptor. I found it on my second try and for a steal at $5. Thank you, Radio Shack. Upon returning home, I put it in place and everything worked. Ahhhhhhh, what a sigh of relief. My workout would have to wait till later though, since it was now close to dinner time and one of my goals is........what?? To become more domesticated and learn to cook, bake, decorate, etc. I whipped up some tilapia sauteed in garlic and light butter, served with rosemary asparagus and a generous salad. I have to admit everything came out quite well. Everything tastes good with butter and garlic though so I can't blow up my head too much. I still have loads to learn in the kitchen.
